Black River Canal (CT) & Museum
Running south from Boonville for 7.5 miles along the historic Black River Canal, this trail is flat for much of its length. One portion runs along side of spectacular Boonville Gorge and passes through beautiful Pixley Falls State Park. Steeper sections next to ruined locks, including the famed “Five Combines”, become more numerous. Complimenting this experience and providing a more comprehensive understanding of the canal’s rich history will be a visit to the nearby Black River Canal Museum. Viewing ever impressive Pixley Falls can also be a highlight of either a hike or ride on the Canal Trail.
Black River Canal (CT) Campus offers the following activities:
- Hiking
- Museum Tour
